Happy New Year to all members and friends of the club. There are no races scheduled, but informal sailing may take place if conditions are suitable and members want to go sailing. Hector Morris has been awarded a prestigious Lifetime Commitment Award from the RYA in recognition of his commitment to Upper Thames Sailing Club. He joined UTSC in 1975 as an active sailor in the Wayfarer fleet and served as Treasurer for over 10 years. For 23 years, his services on the Wednesday night race team helped build the popularity of the club's mid-week sailing and he was instrumental in putting a training programme

Many congratulations to member Jock Wishart, who's fulfilled a long-held ambition to win this prestigious trophy. He put together the three-yacht "Celtic Team" to compete in this week-long regatta run from Cowes by the Royal Ocean Racing Club alongside the IRC European championships. Our Open Day was a fantastic event with nearly 200 visitors who came along to try sailing and see what we offer. Thanks for all the ideas for names for new club boats. After considering all the suggestions - the Wayfarer will be "Bourne Again", suggested by Phil Warner, long-standing member and ex-Training Principal, and RS Feva number 4 will be "Maid Marian" to accompany no.3 "Little John" (several people suggested this one!). Lots of shiny new Toppers – the Club is continuing to upgrade its fleet of club boats. After new Oppies last year and better Wayfarers, the latest arrivals have been introduced to the club lawn! The first Cadet Day of the season was well attended, despite many families being away on their Easter holidays.
