Training Session for Members: Officer of the Day (OOD), Race Officer, and Bar Duties
As a self-help Club, we rely on our members to keep things running smoothly. All members (and their non-sailing partners, if interested) are invited to take part in sailing duties such as Officer of the Day (OOD) or Race Officer, or to help staff our Club's bar. This training session is designed to give you a clear understanding of these roles, explain how the duty teams are organized, and guide you through scheduling and swaps.
During the training session, you will learn:
- How to find and read the online duty roster.
- Best practices for carrying out OOD, Race Officer, or Bar tasks.
- The process for requesting a swap if you're unable to attend your scheduled day.
- Whom to contact (Team Leaders and Bar Managers) for support or additional guidance.
What to Expect from the Training
- Hands-On Demonstrations: From setting up race signals to pouring the perfect pint, you'll get practical tips to help you feel confident in your role.
- Safety Briefings: Essential protocols will be covered, ensuring the well-being of all members on and off the water.
- Q&A with Experienced Members: Our seasoned OODs, Race Officers, and Bar Managers will share insights and answer any questions you might have.
We look forward to guiding you through each step so you can fully enjoy your participation at UTSC. By attending this training session, you'll be ready to confidently fulfill your duties, contribute to the Club's success, and get the most out of your membership.
