Bourne End Week 2018
Saturday 26th May 2018 - Wednesday 30th May 2018
UTSC's annual regatta - river racing at its best. This year sees not only the Merlin Rocket River Championships and Thames A Rater Nationals but also the OK River Championships and the UTSC Wayfarer Splashaway Challenge. These events cover three days from Saturday to Monday, and are also part of the traditional Bourne End Week Regatta, which runs until Tuesday for the smaller dinghy classes. Other class racing will be for the Solo, N12 and Handicap fleet. The Thames A Rater Nationals run for the traditional five days and will finish on Wednesday.
UTSC is an excellent location on a wide and long reach of the upper Thames, with easy launching from the clubhouse lawn. The club looks forward to welcoming visitors to this classic river regatta. There are beautiful trophies to be won by testing your river sailing skills, roll tacking and tactics against fellow competitors and the stream on the river and shifting breezes.
The start is directly in front of the clubhouse, so the lawn is the perfect vantage point for spectators, with the Thames Path running through the grounds and alongside the river upstream to follow the races. The frontage was rebuilt a few years ago now and circuit sailors will appreciate the three slipways, pontoons and the paved 'beach' area.
Bourne End Week has a tradition of great hospitality and the location with the historic clubhouse, the marquee on the lawn, and midsummer sunsets provide the ideal setting.
Our professional caterer Emma and her team offer quality food for the whole week: breakfasts, lunches, and teas from the Galley and the tea tent.
New Rear-Commodore House Margaretha and team have planned an exciting social calendar. "This year's BEW is full of fun and delicious events. We welcome you with a delicious Mexican meal and Happy Hour at the bar on Friday evening. On Saturday after sailing there will be Paella freshly cooked on the lawn, with your ticket included in the sailing entry. Our famous cocktail party and meal on Sunday will have a Casablanca feel with live music. On Monday why not treat yourself to one of Emma's warming curries?" More details on the Social Event page.
Camping is available just behind the club, and it's just a few minutes' walk into the village with a wide variety of shops for everything you might need. Click here for the social programme.
