Ed flies the UTSC flag at Cookham Reach OK Open

Published 16:23 on 14 Jun 2021

On Saturday 12 June three OK's from UTSC sailed down to CRSC (yes - an eventful trip under the bridge) for CRSC's first OK Open in many years. A full report of the event is now available on the CRSC website.

With 5 OK's from the host club, 3 OK's from UTSC and 5 other visitors, including multiple National Champion Nick Craig, a total of 13 OK's competed in 4 races to decide the results. The weather was hot - very hot - with typical Thames conditions of occasional puffs of wind from various directions followed by periods of almost complete calm.

But the conditions sorted out the wheat from the chaff. Unsurprisingly, Nick Craig won all 4 races to win the open meeting. With two second places and a third, Ed Crichton from UTSC came a very well deserved runner-up, whilst Chris Burrell came home a very creditable 5th beating all the other local river sailors. My own result is best forgotten, but I did avoid last place (just).

Following the prize giving T8 was collected from UTSC and went down to CRSC to tow the 3 OKs back - an even more eventful activity than sailing down to CRSC......
