The bank holiday weekend was a bustling celebration of sailing and social events, despite some challenges with the weather. Here's a detailed roundup:

The weekend kicked off on Friday with low winds that unfortunately curtailed much of the planned sailing activities. Sailors and enthusiasts were eager to get out on the water but resulting in a quieter day than anticipated.

Saturday saw an improvement in the weather, with a bit more wind to allow the start of the Merlin Rocket River Championship. The Thames A-Raters also began their quest for the Champion Cup. The increased wind made for some exciting racing, showcasing the skills and determination of all participants.

The Valencia Supper Club made a grand return on Saturday, delighting attendees with their signature Big Pan Paella served on the lawn. The aroma of the delicious dish filled the air, adding a festive touch to the day's activities.

Sunday brought a mix of showers and more sailing, with dinghy racing taking centre stage. The Thames A-Raters race started dramatically with a thunderstorm, adding an extra layer of challenge for the sailors.

Despite the weather, the Thames A-Raters Queen's Cup Race proceeded, and it was Paul, the helm of Osprey, who ultimately collected the prestigious trophy.

As the sun set, the famous Bourne End Week gin cocktail party kicked off in the marquee. Attendees enjoyed exquisitely crafted gin cocktails, mingling in a relaxed atmosphere.

Truly Scrumptious, a beloved local caterer, was back to provide a memorable evening in the marquee. Their culinary offerings impressed all, adding to the weekend's vibrant atmosphere. Attendees were treated to delicious food before dancing the night away with The Crew, a crowd-pleasing Bucks-based trio known for their engaging performances.

The bank holiday concluded on Monday with a gentle day of dinghy racing. The calmer weather provided a perfect backdrop for the final races, allowing sailors to showcase their skills in more relaxed conditions. The weekend ended on a high note with a prize-giving ceremony, celebrating the achievements and efforts of all participants over the past few days.

In summary, the Bourne End Weekend was a splendid mix of competitive sailing, delicious food, and lively entertainment. Despite the initial weather challenges, the spirit of the event shone through, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.
